Keira Knightley Marries James Righton – the Pirates of the Caribbean star today wed Klaxons singer and keyboard player James Righton.
The pair had been keen to keep details of the wedding secret and to keep things very low-key they only had 11 guests at the ceremony which was held in the town hall of Mazan, a small commune in the Provence region of France.
The area that they picked is no great surprise however as Knightley owns a beautiful £3m property just 3 miles from the centre of Mazan. She is in good company as Angeline Jolie and Brad Pitt’s property is also in this area of France although the 2 hr drive probably means that she will not be borrowing sugar from them if she runs out.
For the wedding ceremony Knightley wore a floaty strapless white Chanel dress which she latched with a little Chanel jacket and a pair of nude flats. Righton wore a dark blue 2-piece suit with a light blue tie although his father and brother went for a more casual look with both opting to wear chinos.
Knightley had been on record as saying that she wanted a quiet wedding and even the reception is set to be very unshowbizzy although her actress friend Sienna Miller is expected to attend.
For a big movie star Knightley seemed very keen to keep things as simple as possible and even their wedding car was a world away from the normal bridal choice of a Rolls Royce or Bentley as she left the ceremony in a little silver Renault Clio.
The couple have been engaged since May last year and were originally introduced by a mutual friend, model and presenter Alexa Chung who also works for British Vogue.
Despite the quiet celebrations this weekend in France, Knightley and Righton are expected to have a much bigger party in the UK when they return. After all she is a movie star and he is a rock star!
